Lucien Oullette

One of the state's premium swimmers and a baseball standout as well, Lucien Ouellette placed 12th in his Edward Little High School class of 330 with an average of 92 and earned a choice between Bowdoin and Springfield. Voted Swimmer of the Year the past season by the coaches, Lucien helped the Red Eddies to Southwestern and state Class A championships.

Captain and four-year vetera, he won the Southwestern 200 freestyle and the state 100 and 200 frees. He made the state All-Star team in three events and the state All-Academic team. He holds Edward Little High School records in seven events. A three-year baseballer, Ouellette gained honorable mention as an SMAA outfielder last year.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
