William Swift
Born on October 27, 1961 in
University of Maine, Orono

Billy Swift is well established among the national collegiate pitching elite, and a well-rounded complete player.

With a 36-7 win-loss record heading into the ECAC Regionals that Maine trusted would be the stepping stone to a fourth straight College World Series appearance, he owns the most Maine career victories and the single game strikeout record at 16.

Most innings pitched, 266 2/3; season strikeout record, 79, while further tournament action could well add career strikeouts (at 216 he was four short), and season earned run average. Swift's card was 5-2 with a fabulous 0.54 ERA this season, his final campaign. His career ERA is 2.17.

He's pitched for two college All-Star teams that toured Europe, the Far East, and South America, and has been picked for the U.S. Olympic baseball team.

Billy is a Dean's List student in the UMO School of Education.
