Ouellette was a member of the Stearns High School golf team. She was state schoolgirl champ in 1976 and 1977, runner-up to Orono's Cindy Treadwell in 1978.
Ouellette, 24, a December graduate of Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, won her third straight Pine Tree state title last July at Riverside.
She won her first MWSGA crown in 1981 at Bangor Municipal and repeated in 1982 at Auburn's Martindale Country Club. She posted the best stroke average for teh 1982 and 1983 MWSGA campaigns at 75.2 and 77.8.
Ouellette played on the Lamar golf team all four years. She won the Babe Didrikson Memorial tournament (the Babe a Beaumont product) as the highlight of her collegiate career.
While she had contemplated turning professional this year, that venture is now.
Ouellette is presently teaching math, physical education, and health at her Stearns alma mater. Her future may include a Women's Professional Golf Tour.
