When you're a senior at Biddeford High School who has attained both high honors and honors to date with an average of 5.00 at the end of your junior year on a 6.00 grading scale, plus you have won varsity letters in track, cross country, and gymnastics, along with many special honors in extracurricular activities, what do you do for an encore? Those are the oustanding basics of he scholastic career of Mildred M. Pelletier. Here are the details: those three years of honors, plus appointment to the National Honor Society were attained through the College Prep curricula. In her four years of track, Mildred has won or placed high in all sprint distances from the fifty yard dash through the 440 relay, the eighty yard hurdles, the long and the high jump. She has scored as high as 104 points in a single season, holds her school's record in seven events, runs cross country in the fall. In gymnastics she has been captain of the team while executing outstanding performances on the uneven parallel bars, and vaulting. The extracurrcula activities include two summers with the Upward Bound Program at the University of Maine Portland-Gorham, plus a delegate of Dirigo Girls' State in 1977, three years a member of her school's Varsity Club, four years with the Outing Club, the Drama Club, playing in the school band, the Chorus, and taking the lead in a class play. Mildred M. Pelletier is extremely well qualified to continue her Liberal Arts course this fall at her college, yet to be chosen.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
