One of southern Maine's outstanding distance runners, Rachel Wilkinson participated in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Gorham High School during her four years. Rachel was a four-year standout in cross country and was captain during her senior year. The number one runner for the Rams throughout her career, Rachel earned All-Conference and All-State recognition.

Rachel has also excelled in both indoor and outdoor track at the distance events and has been recognized as an All-Conference and All-State athlete. An outstanding leader, she has been the captain of both teams. During her junior season indoors, she finished second in the Class A state championships in the one-mile run and followed up that performance with a third-place finish in the two-mile event. As a senior, she was fifth in the state championship meet in the one-mile run and seventh in the 800 meter run. In outdoor track she finished as the Class A state runner-up in the 3,200 meter run and was fourth in the state meet at 1,600 meters in 2009.

Rachel has also received recognition for her excellence in the classroom. She has earned school honors for chemistry, pre-calculus, and French and has been awarded the Smith College Book Award. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. Rachel enjoys dance and has performed in both the hip hop and teen lyrical categories.

Rachel has a career average of 97.00 at Gorham High School. She plans to major in nutrition in college and has finalized her post-secondary choices to the Universities of Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. She is the daughter of John and Norma Wilkinson and resides in South Portland.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
