One of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference's top student-athletes, Abigail Downs has excelled in soccer, basketball, and outdoor track and field at Edward Little High School in Auburn. Abigail capped an outstanding four-year career in soccer by being named a captain in both her junior and senior years. She earned second team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and was a first team All-KVAC player as a senior. The most valuable player for the Eddies in 2008, Abby was also selected as an All-State player by the Sun Journal.
Abigail also excelled on the hardwood and was a four-year varsity player at Edward Little. She was named to the KVAC All-Rookie team in 2006 and was an honorable mention performer in 2008. Abby was named to the KVAC All-Academic squad and was selected to play in the Southern Division Senior All-Star Game in 2009. The captain of the Red Eddies girl's outdoor track team, she is a three-time KVAC All-Star and was named All-State as both a sophomore and a junior.
In addition to her involvement in athletics, Abby has been an integral part of student life at Edward Little. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has been part of her school's Sports Done Right project. She was a member of the school's Executive Board as a junior and senior. She has been a recipient of both the St. Michael's College Book Award and the Edward Little School Spirit Award.
Abby has a career average of 95.378 in a highly challenging academic program and ranks ninth in her class of 235 students. Her career goal is to become a nurse, and she will attend Endicott College in the fall to pursue that dream. She is the daughter of Jeff and Debbie Downs and lives in Auburn.

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
