Catherine Joseph
Born on April 23, 1990 in Boston, Massachusetts
Education:
St. Dominic Regional High School

Catherine Joseph participated in cross country, basketball, and tennis during her high school career - first at East Richland High School in Olney, Illinois, and most recently at St. Dominic Regional High School in Auburn. She is a three-year varsity basketball player, and helped lead the Saints to a berth in the Western Maine Class C regional semi-finals. She was the Saints' second leading scorer and led the team in both rebound and blocked shots. In the words of her coach, she was "the annointed team leader," and was named Most Valuable Player for St. Dominic. She is also a four-year high school varsity tennis player, and was a member of the third-place doubles team in her conference's championships in 2006.

Catherine's impressive high school resume demonstrates her commitment to school and community service. At East Richland, she was a member of the student council, and was Executive Secretary as a sophomore and Executive President as a junior. She was a semi-finalist in the state of Illinois for the William Randolph Hearst United States Senate Youth Program. She also participated in the World Youth in Science and Engineering contest. Since arriving at St. Dominic, she has been active in the Key Club and the math team. She also spent her recent April vacation with other St. Dominic seniors as part of the Mission to Mississippi, where she provided service to needy communities in that region.

An outstanding scholar, she has a grade point average of 4.30 in a highly challenging curriculumn, and ranks second out of the 71 graduating seniors at St. Dominic High School. She plans to attend Duke University in the fall, where she will major in civil engineering. She is the daughter of Michael and Janet Joseph of Lewiston.
