Reid McLaughlin

A talented three-sport athlete at Brewer High School, Reid McLaughlin has participated in soccer, ice hockey, and baseball during his four-year career. Reid is a four-year varsity player in soccer and served as captain of the Witches in 2006. He was named as a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference All-Academic selection in his senior year. Reid has also been a member of Brewer's varsity ice hockey program for four seasons and earned letters in each campaign. A two-time team captain, Reid excels in seeing the entire ice and finding the open player on offense. For his performance on the ice, the Class B coaches named him as a second team Class B East All-Star selection.

Reid also is a standout for the Brewer baseball program where he has played at the varsity level for three seasons. He has served as captain for the Witches on two occasions. He holds the distinction of being a Tri-Athlete Award winner at Brewer High School in each of his four years.

In addition to his commitment to and passion for athletics, Reid has been active in numerous other areas of school life as well. He was elected a member of the Brewer chapter of the National Honor Society as a junior and is part of the SeBeowulf Club, an English organization. He participates on the Brewer High School math team and has been elected to his school's Student Council. He serves area children by working as an ice hockey official in a youth ice hockey league.

An outstanding performer in the classroom, Reid has earned numerous academic awards, including the Rensselaer Medal, the Phi Beta Kappa Award, the Advanced Placement Microeconomics Award, and the Bausch and Lomb Science Medal. He has a career grade point average of 98 and is the valedictorian of the Brewer High School Class of 2007. Reid plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono, where he plans to major in engineering, in the fall. He resides in Glenburn; his parents are Reid and Cindy.

Our Mission

The Maine Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1972 for the purpose of: 1) appointing and bestowing recognition awards and scholarships to outstanding Maine high school scholar-athletes; and, 2) to formally honor and memorialize Maine athletes and sports figures who have brought distinction and honor to the state of Maine.
