The Maine Sports Hall of Fame will honor Steve Jones at its annual honors program Sunday June 3, 2018 at the Collins Center on the Orono campus. The Hall will bestow the LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD to “Jonesy’ who has been the Head Equipment manager for over a quarter of a century.
During his career at UMaine, Steve has serviced over 25,000 and established a reputation as a professional of the highest quality, a comrade in arms to Coaches and other staff members in the Athletic Department and a friend to all.
The tributes from Coaches are amazing
From Mike Coutts
“What a great honor for Jonesy and one that is very much deserved. He epitomizes what a true Black Bear is and he certainly is one of the reasons that UMaine Athletics is successful. His overwhelming commitment over the last 30+ years is something that most people don't see, but as a former UMaine student-athlete and now coach, I have experienced first hand what he has meant to us. Behind every great team there is a great equipment manager. Congratulations, Jonesy! Well done."
The event is open to the public and begins at 2PM on June 3.
